    If you have done any traveling in interstate 40 through Texas there is a pretty good chance you have drive past the largest cross in the western hemisphere.

    The cross is located on interstate 40 in Groom, Texas at exit #112. You can actually see the cross from about 20 miles away before you actually reach it. There is an exit where the cross is at so that you can get a closer look if you like.

    The cross measures an impressive 190 feet high. The cross was erected in July of 2005. It took more than 100 welders to put this giant cross together in two different shops.

    All together this massive cross weighs in at 1,250 tons.

    At the foot of the cross you can see bronze sculptures of Jesus' journey to the cross. There is alsoa gift shop and restrooms available for travelers that stop to visit the largest cross in the western hemisphere.

    There is no fee to park or to visit the largest cross in the western hemisphere. And you can stop by at any hour as it is open for visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year long.
